Open Mic Nights at the Usual
Wednesdays from 8 pm til midnight at The Usual
Wednesdays are you chance to introduce your musical stylings to Houston.  Step up to the
mic and sing your heart out!  And on the second Wednesday of each month, GoGirls
performers will be in the mix.  The Usual is located at the southwest corner of TC Jester
and Allen St, between I-10 and Washington.
     
 
Cancer Support Group
Every Other Thursday at Resurrection MCC from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
A cancer support group is now meeting at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church,
2025 West 11th St., 77008, from 6:30-8:00 every other Thursday in the Chapel. Please
join us, no matter your age, gender or cancer diagnosis, whether you have just been
diagnosed with cancer, a cancer survivor, friend of someone with cancer, a caretaker, etc.
This is an open, loving meeting facilitated by Brenda and Cindy who are both cancer
survivors. Our next meeting is May 31st and the dates in June will be the 14th and 28th.

counseling and social events for the Spry members of our community.

GLBT Community Center Presents Energy Exercise Class
Every Thursday from 1 to 2 pm at the Center
Noted Houston Personal Trainer and Gym Owner John Aaron Villarreal (Muscle Mechanics)
leads our Center Energy program every Thursday at 1 p.m.  Center Energy offers ways of
staying centered and healthy, while reducing stress and building body strength.

While the program continues to focus on people living with HIV, all are welcome. Many
GLBT seniors find the program helpful as do others looking to explore a low impact regular
workout routine.

The
GLBT Community Center is located at 1900 Kane Street, at the Historic Dow School.

Free Thursday Night C&W Dance Lessons at BRB
Thursday nights at Brazos River Bottom (BRB)
Please join us each Thursday night at the BRB (2400 Brazos) for free dance lessons and
lots of Open Dancing.  The BRB is becoming quite the Hot Spot to be on Thursday nights,
whether its to take the lessons, or to just dance to some great C&W tunes by DJ Dave.   
You don't have to bring a dance partner with you in order to take the lessons. TRUST !!!
There's lots of people to meet and dance with.  The Line Dance lesson starts at 8:30. The
Couples dance lesson starts around 9:30. There's lot of Open Dancing before, between and
after the lessons.
     
 
Thursday Book Club
Third Thursday of Each Month, 5:30 to 7 pm at The Montrose Library
The Thursday Book Group in Houston is open to lesbians and lesbian-friendly women
interested in expanding their horizons by reading and discussing books they might not
discover on their own. The group selects quality fiction and non-fiction books about women.
No mystery, romance, or self-help books.

The group meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the
upstairs meeting room of the Montrose Library, located at 4100 Montrose. Afterwards,
group members adjourn to a local restaurant in the Montrose area for dinner or coffee to
enjoy some social time together.

A2 40, a promotions group which produces a variety of social events, presents Social
Happy Hour on the Patio.  The location is a cool new spot called Bar 5015, at 5015 Almeda.

Front Runners Monthly Mixer
First Friday of each month, 6 to 8 pm at Guava Lamp
The FrontRunners running group holds a monthly mixer the first Friday of every month at
Guava Lamp from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  You can find out more about this group by visiting

Triple D:  Dykes, Dinner and Discussion
The Third Friday of each month, 7 to 9 pm at the GLBT Community Center
This ongoing program is facilitated by Jacquie Bartha and is open to lesbian, bisexual, and
transgender women who are attracted to women. The program encourages networking
opportunities and discussion of topics that include health, family, dating, equality,
community awareness, and freedom of speech.

The Center is located at 1901 Kane.
     
 
Queer Bingo, Hosted by the GLBT Community Center
The first Saturday of each month, 4 pm, at 1900 Kane St.
Playing location is the auditorium of the  historic Dow School at 1900 Kane.    The time of
the Center's regular bingo game and social event has been moved to 4-6:30 p.m. to give  
players a chance to get their bingo on and still have time for Saturday night plans. Doors
open at 4 p.m. and games begin at 4:30 p.m. Our monthly 50/50 raffle benefits worthy
Houston GLBT groups. Bingo proceeds support Center programming. Email questions to the

The Womens' Group
Sundays at 10:15 am at the First Unitarian Universalist Church
The Women's Group - pictured here in a typical feminist hot tub situation  - is a feminist
group for all women, (each woman defines her own feminism), that meets every Sunday at
10:30AM in Room 208 of the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 5200 Fannin, at

LOAF Socials
The third Sunday of each month, from 2 to 4 pm
Lesbians Over the Age of Fifty (LOAF) invites you to join them for monthly socials
featuring potluck of snacks and drinks, dominoes, card games, conversation, sports on TV
and more.  LOAF currently has over 200 active members.  Call 713.869.1482 for more
