Staged Workshop Presentation of Girls Who Sing in the Choir by Gwen Flager
As the first LGBT prom night arrives in the Spring of 2000, old friends and old loves confront long forgotten secrets and unspoken dreams as they plan a unique Southern prom.
Last season, as part of the continuation of the New Works Reading Series, Queensbury Theatre selected 6 new plays written by Houston and surrounding area playwrights to be read in a concert style reading series at the theatre. Of the six, one was chosen to be produced as part of the 2017/2018 New Works Development Program. Girls Who Sing In the Choir by Houston playwright Gwen Flager was been selected to be part of the inaugural New Works Development Program and now embarks on its second phase of development.
Led by the theater’s playwright in residence and new works coordinator L. Robert Westeen and under the steady hand of the productions director, Clair Hart-Palumbo, Girls Who Sing in the Choir will receive a public workshop performance Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 7:00p.m. prior to its full world premiere production, which is set for July of 2018.
