More Information:
Last season, as part of the New Works Reading Series, Queensbury Theatre selected 6 new plays written by Houston and surrounding area playwrights to be read in a concert style reading series at the theatre. Of the six, one was chosen to be produced as part of the 2017/2018 New Works Development Program.

Shakin’ the Blue Flamingo (formally known as Girls Who Sing In the Choir) by Houston playwright Gwen Flager was selected to be part of the inaugural New Works Development Program and was performed as a staged reading in February 2018.

Now, Shakin’ the Blue Flamingo embarks on its next phase of development–a World Premiere in July 2018.

About the play:
As the first LGBT prom night arrives in the Spring of 2000, old friends and old loves confront long forgotten secrets and unspoken dreams as they plan a unique Southern prom.
