Networking - Restaurants, Bars and Other
Miscellaneous Entertainment Options
I use this part of Social Notes to promote businesses
and networking opportunities that I think might be of
interest to all of you.  If you haven't yet sent me a blurb
about your business, I hope you'll get around to it soon.

Please note the Navigation Bar on the left-hand side of
this page.  I finally got around to subdividing the
Networking section to make it easier to find things!
RESTAURANTS
  Rainbow Lodge
The Lodge is not a strictly gay establishment, but you'll always see plenty of
friendly faces, whether you're there for fabulous dinners, Sunday brunch, wine
tastings or a reasonably priced lunch.  The setting is a log cabin/hunting lodge,
with the prettiest deck/view in town.  The food and service are totally
gourmet, and first class in every way!
Rainbow Lodge is located at 2011 Ella at
TC Jester (a couple of blocks inside of Loop 610)

  MAM'S House of Ice Snoballs
MAM's is a very cute, custom built trailer that looks like a little house, serving
New Orleans style snoballs YUM!!!  MAM's is located in the Fiesta parking lot in
the Heights (Studewood and 14th St).   It's a wonderful way to cool off during
the summer.....so bring the family and enjoy the fluffiest snoballs in Houston.
Visit them on facebook at MAM'S House of Ice Snoballs.

BARS
  EVO Lounge
There appears to be a new lesbo bar in town - hallelujah!  Evo Lounge is lcoated
in midtown, at 2707 B Milam.  I haven't checked it out yet, but here is what
their
website says:  Unlike any other club you have seen. EVO Lounge brings in a
exclusive crowd and un-matched service, including live DJ entertainment playing
a energetic mix of rock, house, retro, disco, dance, and hip hop to satisfy and
keep the dance floor moving.

  F Bar
This is the classiest bar in town, and it has a great patio too (with misters to
help cool it down in the summer and a firepit to warm it up in what passes for
winter here!).  Although it is predominantly men, the staff and the guests are
VERY welcoming to lesbians!  F Bar is located at 202 Tuam, just a block east of
meteor.

  Meteor
If you are looking for a classy, up-scale environment with a clientele to match,
then Meteor is the bar for you!  Although it definitely attracts more men than
women, us gals of the lebezianic persuasion have always been treated well there
(at least in my experience).
Meteor is located at 2306 Genesee at the
northwest corner of Fairview and Genesee.

  Brazos River Bottom (BRB)
The BRB is pure country, for sure!  This is primarily a men's bar, but you'll see
a lot of women on Friday nights, and a scattering of women on Saturdays.  Free
C&W dance lessons each Thursday night and several times a month on Fridays
(check the Social Notes calendar page for the Friday schedule).  The bar is
clean, well run and attracts a decent clientele.
BRB is located at 2400 Brazos
Street, behind Spec's Midtown.

  The Usual
The Usual is a neighborhood pub with a great patio.  Their official address is
5519 Allen Street, but they are really on TC Jester about a block or two north
of Washington, on the west side of TC Jester.   Specials include:
MON - Anatomy of a Soul performs & $2 wells all night
TUES - $1 Lonestar
WED - Open Mic w/Sarah Golden
THURS - KARAOKE
FRI - Live Music
SAT - Patio Party
SUN - Acoustic Radio with Paige Lewis
Check out their
website or Facebook page.

  The Room Bar & Lounge
Located in Spring (30 minutes North of Downtown Houston) on 4915 FM 2920
(between Bridgestone & Rhodes) east of Kuykendahl. We are a GLBT Bar and
Lounge/Club with a long standing reputation in the GLBT community. During the
1990s, club ownership ran the original "Rainbow Room' as a meeting place and
entertainment venue for the GLBT community in North Houston and remained
that for many years. The Room Bar & Lounge was inspired by its predecessor to
keep the original feel of what "Rainbow Room" brought to Houston. With an
occupany of over 160, The Room is an ideal club for hosting your event/party.
With 3 DJs supplying a total of over 100,000 songs in all genres, we can handle
all requests and the bar is fully stocked with the best in top shelf liquor and
beer just for you!  For more information , please visit our
website

  Guava Lamp
Guava Lamp is not a women's bar (indeed, they turned down the opportunity to
host Professional Women's Happy Hours) but there are lots of women who enjoy
this little hideaway off Waugh close to Allen Parkway.  Guava Lamp is a
big step
up from Chances decor, but not as elegant as meteor.  Still, it's a nice enough
place to grab a drink.   Get more info and directions
here.

  Ranch Hill Saloon
Yes, Virginia, there ARE gay bars in the suburbs!  We're EVERYWHERE!  Ranch
Hill Saloon provides north-side Glibbits with a little slice of Montrose outside
the loop.  They welcome men, women and whatever might lie in between!  The
bar is located off I-45 North at Spring Crossing Drive.  Check out their
website for a listing of daily specials, Wii tournaments and more.

  Chances Bar Tribute Site
Chances is no more, but Cindy of Fluff the Kat fame has launched a tribute
website for ex-patrons who want to stay in touch and reminisce.
