Clubs and Organizations - Social Groups
Whether your organization is a large charitable group, or simply a
Friday night poker club looking for new members, my readers might
want to know about you.  Send me a blurb (don't forget to include
contact info), and I'll post it here.

Please check out the Navigation Bar to the left.  As you can see, I
have sub-divided this section to make it easier to find things.

The Jewish Gay and Lesbian Social Group of Houston
This wonderful group of 100+ men and women is sponsored by the Jewish
Community Center.  Their events range from happy hours, gay bingo, sedar
dinner at the synagogue, to the big up scale event... the annual Chanukah
Party.   Hmmmmm, in the spirit of stereotyping, shouldn't their activities
include kvetching, matchmaking and mah jongg?  I'll have to speak to them
about that!  Anyway, this is a strong and very active group, and they
welcome new members with open arms.  For more info,
 email Dianna
Howard.

get-togethers, the club also participates in many events throughout Texas

Social Group for North Side Glibbits
Living outside the loop doesn't mean you have to BE outside the loop! The
goal for this group is to create a social network for GLBT folks who live in
the North/NW side of Houston or other surrounding areas such as Spring,
the Woodlands, Conroe, Kingwood, Champions Forest, Cypress, Copperfield,
etc. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to meet up with friends who have the
same interests as you, and NOT have to take the long drive into the
gayborhood just to hang out and meet with other GLBT folks?

Any ideas, interests, or general stuff you would like to post, feel free... It
would be nice to NOT have one-liners like Hello... posted for the group, but
let's all get to know each other, and play nice! To join the group,

  Q+A
Q + A Houston aims to promote diversity and awareness of the queer
Asian/Pacific Islander community through social building. By establishing
central access to people, information and events, we will provide visibility
of and support for the issues we face as queer or questioning API
individuals and as a community.  Like many social organizations, Q + A exists
to provide a safe, open-minded and friendly environment in which
individuals can come together and interact for various purposes, whether it
be to socialize with cool like-minded people, advocate for a cause, network,
discuss issues, etc.  We have an interest in visibly welcoming GLBT-
identifying and questioning API men and women, and through our events, we
aim to build and maintain awareness of the queer Asian/Pacific Islander
community.  Q + A welcomes all individuals interested in working with us to
achieve our goals. While it is not inclusive to only individuals who identify as
GLBT and are of Asian or Pacific Islander descent, our goal is to promote
awareness in regards to this specific community.  Some activities we are
interested in hosting include: special presentations to celebrate various
Asian holidays, panel discussions, film screenings, theater performances,
game nights, karaoke nights, literary readings, and, of course, good ‘ol
happy hours and mixers. Also to further visibility, we would like to attend,
as a group, various events in town hosted by other organizations.  Stay
informed of upcoming events by contacting us via
email, joining our
facebook group (search for "Queer & Asian Houston"), or joining our
myspace group.
